What is Transco?
Transco was a gas transporter.
It transported and stored gas for its customers through a transportation network across the UK.
Transco did not sell gas, but it did maintain the 24-hour emergency service for stopping gas escapes.
British Gas was the trading name of two separate companies: BG plc outside Great Britain and Centrica plc inside Great Britain.
Transco operates in the UK and was a part of BG plc.
Transco delivered around half the nations energy needs through its 275,000km of pipework and runs Britain's national gas emergency service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
